Supporting children with SEND

An introduction to AANT in the Early Years

In conjunction with the Suffolk Psychology and Therapeutic service we will be delivering a virtual session on understanding the AANT process and how this can support children in your setting. Open to all LoP providers – don’t miss your place.

AANT stands for Analysis of Additional Needs and is a child-centred process that supports both early intervention and identification of needs and can unpick more complex situations of a child in your setting.

AANT is an online consultation between your setting and an Educational Psychologist. Following the consultation the Educational Psychologist will send you a solution-focused report with actions and resources to use with an individual child.

An AANT can be requested when a child is making less than expected progress despite evidence-based support and intervention.

This will be delivered virtually and is free to attend

Feeling welcomed gives us a sense of belonging. Whether welcoming families visiting your setting for the first time, or the way you welcome the children each day – these matter.

Join us to explore ways to create a 5* welcome.

Explore what a great welcome looks like, why it is so important and why some children and families may struggle more. Consider practical steps that can be taken to help everyone feel included.

SEND learning and development programme

Suffolk County Council produce a SEND learning and development programme appropriate for staff working across different organisations. This programme outlines a set of core principles and values expected of everyone working with children with SEND. As well as information on training and learning resources, it will help you understand your duties and responsibilities, and support your work with children with SEND and their families. In addition to the SEND and inclusion training offered by the Early Years and Childcare Service you may wish to access other opportunities available in the brochure.
