Capital expansion funding to develop early years spaces

To help meet the demand for funded places when the entitlements expand from September 2025 the Department for Education (DfE) has made available some capital funding to support projects which meet the criteria.

As you would expect, this is public funding, so we are looking for the best value for money and to be able to develop places where they are most needed. You will be asked to give a brief outline of the project, the expected total cost, the amount being requested from SCC, the number of places this will create and for what age children.

What we can consider funding:What we can’t fund:
Projects that will create places for 9 Month + babies and 2 year oldsLarge scale projects
Projects where the Suffolk County Council (SCC) funding is a contributionReplacements/upgrades for existing premises/fixtures etc
Capital expenditure only, we have no additional funding for revenue costsProjects in areas where there is sufficient childcare provision
Expansion where the need is greatestProjects that will create minimal additional places

If you have a project that you would like to be considered please email: [email protected]
