Mandate Fraud

Please be vigilant of potential mandate fraud – this involves a fraudster tricking a member of staff into changing payee bank account details by pretending to be from an organisation (supplier) that you make regular payments to. 

Remember, treat any request to change supplier bank account with suspicion, it’s unusual for them to change their bank account. Always validate the legitimacy of the request by contacting the supplier by phone using known contact details used previously (not those on the latest correspondence). It’s important that staff do this before processing this change of bank account.
