Suffolk SEND Improvement Board Members – Request for nominations to join the Board

To all Education Leaders: MAT CEOs, Headteachers, Principals and Heads of Schools.

Following the recent Ofsted/CQC Area SEND Inspection an independently chaired SEND Improvement Board has been set up. This is an accountability Board to drive improvement across Suffolk’s SEND system and services through delivery of the Priority Action Plan which can be found here: Suffolk Priority Action and Improvement Plan FINAL (suffolklocaloffer.org.uk)

The Board is seeking 6 education Board members to ensure representation across all sectors. Board members from Suffolk’s education system will act as key SEND representatives and leaders for their sector. This will mean collecting views and issues from the sector they represent and bringing these to the Board, sharing the priorities and actions from the Board with their phase colleagues and overseeing and reporting back on the implementation of Board actions relevant to their sector. Sector representatives will be required to ensure the wide dissemination of the SEND Local Area Partnership strategy, priorities and progress. All Board members will play an active role in helping to lead SEND improvement and SEND developments across the county.

We are seeking nominations from senior education leaders who can represent their sector, one from each of the following phases:

  • Early Years,
  • Primary,
  • Secondary,
  • Post 16
  • Special Schools
  • Alternative Provision

If you would like to nominate yourself as a sector representative, please notify [email protected] by 5pm on Tuesday 7 May. If we receive more nominations than there are places on the Board, we will run a short election. If you wish to discuss the Board and its work, please contact Ros Somerville Assistant Director Inclusion ([email protected]) for further information.
