In November last term, the Suffolk Educational Partnership’s SEND Task group worked with the Suffolk Primary Head’s Association to showcase strong inclusive practice at five schools across the county. Castle Hill Infant and Junior School, Exning Primary School, Kessingland CofE Primary Academy, Stanton Community Primary School and Whitehouse Community Primary are all Inclusion Quality Mark accredited ‘Centres of Excellence’ for inclusion. They opened their doors for a morning and were visited by many school leaders and SENDCos from neighbouring schools for a tour an information session.

The feedback was very positive and included the following statements:

• “I really enjoyed the school tour and took so much from it. I have a lot of ideas for our school as a result. I am very grateful for the opportunity.”
• “I always appreciate the chance to visit schools and there was a lot at the school that seems to have had an impact. These opportunities in my opinion are a good way to support schools in their development.”
• “The visit emphasised how inclusion is not just something for SEND or EAL pupils, but a much wider picture.”

There will be another opportunity to visit schools across Suffolk with strong inclusive practice in the week beginning 4 March. We will extend the range of settings and include options to visit Primaries, Secondaries, Specialist Schools and Alternative Provision.
