HOPE Awards 3 – Nominations Closing soon.
Do you know a young person who has gone above and beyond? Someone who has made a difference in their community? A group who have worked hard together to effect change, pushed new ideas or stood up against discrimination?
The Suffolk HOPE Awards are a platform to acknowledge and celebrate amazing work by our young people. Nominations will close Friday 24th February 2023 so please get voting!
During last year’s awards we saw over one hundred students nominated for some fantastic reasons. These ranged from creating safer and happier learning environments with support from staff at school, to supporting family, friends, or strangers through difficult times with acts of kindness and compassion. It is clear our young people are taking brave and bold steps to do their part in the community. We also celebrated Bungay High School, Hadleigh High School, and Thomas Gainsborough as they won area awards for their participation in the HOPE Awards.
Nominations for this years Awards are currently open and we know there are more young people out there who are worthy of an award so please keep the four HOPE categories in mind and make a nomination. These awards really can make a difference to someone’s experience in school and confidence as they progress in school or life outside of education.
The four categories are;
Diversity – Individuals or groups who have promoted diversity, taken a stand to prevent/stop discrimination, have undertaken activity to help challenge a negative mindset and affected positive change.
Respect and kindness – Kindness is often an underestimated attribute; this category aims to recognise actions (both large and small) which demonstrate compassion and an understanding of another’s struggles.
Teamwork – Teamwork is a skill carried forward from school to higher education, work and adulthood. This category aims to acknowledge the benefits of sharing ideas and experiences and finding a common approach to solve an issue.
Determination This category aims to celebrate and recognise the determination and resilience of our young people and reward their positive attitude to finding solutions or helping each other and their community.
Following nominations, a panel will meet in March, and winners selected. Prizes will later be announced where we aim to share the winner’s success in local news and social media. Nominations can be made and further information found via the link below.

Internet Safety Day – Tuesday 7th January 2023
Online safety is one of our core topics delivered by the school’s team, however, we are particularly keen to visit settings week commencing 6th February as the Tuesday is Internet Safety Day – A national campaign. Our presentation looks at what we use the internet for, who we talk to and the information we share. We ask students to think about when they loose control of their posts/comments/photos and the impact they can have on their lives such as future employment. With older students we discuss which criminal offences Police often deal with when it comes to the misuse of the internet and ensure all students know where they can go for help and support. Please do make contact with the school’s team to book in your visit from the team! (detail’s below)
The school Liaison Team have also recently completed the Student Safety Surveys. We are grateful for schools giving us the opportunity to speak with students across the county and discussing what it is that causes them concern. This information will be collated and analysed internally, and we will then look to share any points of interest with our partners and schools to continue problem solving any issues and ensure we remain relevant to our community of young people.
