As you are aware, Suffolk’s current SEND strategy will come to an end soon and so it’s time to look ahead and plan for the future. We are asking schools if we can come along and hear yours and your young people’s voice to help shape the priorities for the next 4 years. The more schools we can involve, the better our future plans will be and so we would really value coming to visit your school.
Everything we do within Inclusion Services is about improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND to have fulfilling adult lives. To track how well we are doing this, we would like to introduce some outcome measures for children and young people with SEND. We have some coproduced “I” statements that during our visit to schools we would like to work with children and young people with SEND and gather their views – on what each of these means to them.
On each visit we will have 7 X A3 sheets for young people to tell us what each of these headings mean to them. We will use this to shape the survey questions that practitioners will ask when working with children and young people to monitor how well we are meeting the needs children and young people with SEND. The survey will run all year and a report measure will be taken at key points. We understand that capacity is limited, but we are happy and able as a team along with our engagement hub to run the session and aim for these to last no longer than 1 hour.
