Passenger Transport has been reviewing home to school travel routes across Suffolk and found that there is a significant number of pupils that are:
- Travelling without a valid pass
- Travelling on incorrect routes (going on routes with friends, going to friends after school etc)
- Travelling without paying their invoices for Post-16 or spare seats.
To address this issue, from 27 November all drivers have been asked to check bus passes on both AM and PM journeys. Over the coming months spot checks by Suffolk County Council will also be undertaken at schools in the afternoons to ensure these checks are taking place and all pupils have a valid pass to travel.
Any pupils travelling without a valid pass will be advised to contact the school office who can contact the transport team to discuss any issues.
Please can we ask you to remind all pupils using SCC funded school travel that they must be prepared to show their pass and that they are only permitted to travel on the route that is on their pass. Any pupil trying to access a different route will not be allowed to travel.
If you have any questions, you can contact the transport team on 03456 066067 or [email protected]
Thank you for your continued support.
