Homes for Ukraine Update
Funding has been available in 2022-23 to support the education of refugees on the Homes for Ukraine scheme when they join Suffolk schools. Although the government is not providing funding in 2023-24, SCC is able to continue to offer the following grants for new arrivals as set out below:
- EYFS: £1000 per child per term for up to three terms
- Primary: £1200 per pupil per term for up to three terms
- Secondary: £1500 per pupil per term for up to three terms
- Family Visa Scheme pupils: a one-off payment of £500
These grants for 3 terms will be on offer to schools for Ukrainian children who enrol during the financial year 2023-24. Homes for Ukraine education and childcare grant conditions of funding – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) sets out how you can spend the grant which can include uniform, free school meals or transport. If children join you from a different school, please contact us at [email protected] to determine if remaining grant payments are available.
If an educational setting believes that they were entitled to receive funding in 2022-23 that they have not claimed, please contact SCC to discuss.
Many thanks to those schools which have passported grant funding pro-rata as children have moved between schools.
When contacting us regarding funding, please include the initials and DOB of your Ukrainian pupils as this enables us to confirm their visa status and whether they have previously attended another school. Please also mention if you believe that they either reside or have moved from outside of Suffolk. For any further information or to make a claim, please contact [email protected] .
