This week marks Neurodiversity Awareness Week, which is about celebrating our unique strengths and differences.
Neurodiversity week is about recognising and respecting that we don’t all learn the same way, things we find easy other people find challenging. Some of the different ways people think, learn, interact and perceive the world has been given labels, such as: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and Tourette’s Syndrome.
Regardless of labels, neurodiversity is about recognising and raising awareness of those who think differently within our community, schools and other educational settings.
Neurodiverse students are often misunderstood, so celebrating Neurodiversity week can help highlight the challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences.

What support do neurodivergent young people in Suffolk want?
The CYP Engagement Hub team at Suffolk County Council has asked young members of their SEND Network what would help them feel more supported. A top tips poster has been co-produced to capture young people’s voices.
