All schools | Safeguarding Conference 2024 | Suffolk County Council | 7 October 2024 (9.15am-3.10pm) at Trinity Park, Ipswich

Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership, Suffolk County Council and Schools’ Choice are hosting the 2024 Safeguarding Conference on 7 October 2024 at Trinity Park, Ipswich.

This free to attend event covers a wide range of safeguarding related subjects and speakers include:

  •  Senior HMI for Ofsted will talk about Safeguarding and Inspections;
  •  Prof. Emma Bond, Pro Vice-Chancellor Research & Knowledge Exchange and Professor of Socio-Technical Research at the University of Suffolk
  • Chair of the NSPCC Ethics Committee will be talking about developing an online safety culture;
  • Tracy Murphy, Professional Advisor Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership will be discussing professional curiosity;
  • Graham Abbott, Mental Health Lead, Public Health & Communities Team Suffolk County Council will be leading a session on suicide prevention in schools;
  • Charlie Pinnock will be discussing Harmful Sexual Behaviour in Schools. 

Other sessions will include updates from the Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership and the MASH.

Each Suffolk maintained school and each trust can send one delegate free of charge. Registration will take place from 8:45am to 09:15 am, with the day finishing at 3.10pm.

The Suffolk TA Network Annual Conference 2024 will take place on Wednesday 16 October at Trinity Park, Ipswich, between 9.00 and 15.00 on the theme of Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) – dyslexia and dyscalculia.

The Children’s Bookshow showcases the best children’s books with authors and illustrators live on stage at the New Wolsey Theatre.
 
Ele Fountain will talk about her life as an author, share her top writing tips and explain how she came to create Wild, her latest page-turning adventure about the destruction of the rainforest. There will be readings from the book and plenty of opportunity to ask Ele questions about her life and work.

This in-person event focuses on the leadership of SEND and is aimed at supporting SENCOs, aspiring SENCOs and senior leaders in strategic leadership of this area.

All ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants) | ELSA Conference 2024 | Suffolk County Council | Wednesday 20 November 2024 (9.30am-3.30pm) at Riverside Centre, 6 Great Glemham Road, Stratford St Andrew, Saxmundham, IP17 1LL

An opportunity for ELSAs to come together to refresh and expand their learning.

Topics will include:

  • Suffolk’s evaluation of ELSA.
  • Social media and the impact on sleep.
  • The teenage brain.

| ‘Positive Post 16 Pathways’ event for Greater Ipswich | Suffolk County Council | Thursday 27 February 2025 (9am-1pm) at Endeavour House in Ipswich

Aim: We want to support relevant school staff to be aware of all the available post 16 options, of opportunities from the voluntary sector and services that can support your students’ successful transition from Year 11 into Post 16 and adulthood, and ultimately reduce the increasing number of young people becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training) during Year 12 and 13. There will be four 30 minute workshops as well on: SEND, Travel, Financial support, options for those at Risk of NEET.

Stand holders include Post 16 education and training providers, youth support services and youth projects, departments representing Transport, Benefits, SEND and some of the creative and wellbeing services that help build confidence and reduce anxieties.
