The Emmanuel Project: RE Scheme of Work – EYFS to Y6

The Emmanuel Project, produced by The Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, is a high-quality resource which aids primary schools with their Religion and Worldviews Education. It links directly with the Suffolk Agreed Syllabus for RE.

The Emmanuel Project is based on a Religion and Worldviews approach. It offers an authentic view of religious and non-religious lives around the world. It starts with people and helps pupils understand that the world is a richly diverse community. The Emmanuel Project ensures RE is balanced, by looking through three different lenses: theology, human social science and philosophy, at an age-appropriate level.

The Emmanuel Project is written by teachers for teachers. Each half termly unit has a key question with an important concept to explore and uses an enquiry cycle to help pupils to delve deeper. Big Questions allow for comparisons to be made and links to be drawn across different religions and worldviews.

The Emmanuel Project has a complete set of 51 enquiry-based units for teaching Early Years to Year 6, with clear background notes. The project includes units focused on Buddhism, Christianity, Hindu Dharma, Humanism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhi.
