Suffolk Libraries is looking for volunteers to help support the country’s biggest literacy campaign when it returns to libraries this summer.
The Summer Reading Challenge will run across all libraries during the summer holidays and is a fantastic way of making reading fun whilst also helping children aged 4-11 to maintain their reading skills over the long break.
Libraries across Suffolk are already looking for volunteers who can support the challenge by listening to children talk about books they’ve read. The deadline for volunteer registrations is Friday 16 June to help ensure all applications can be processed in time for the launch of the reading challenge in July.
It’s great experience for young people and an opportunity to develop your confidence and social skills.

The theme for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge is a sporty one – ‘Ready Set Read’ featuring a superstar team of characters and their marvellous mascots. ‘Ready, Set, Read!‘
The Summer Reading Challenge is co-ordinated by the Reading Agency who have teamed up with Youth Sport Trust on this year’s theme which aims to keep children’s minds and bodies active.
